As already-long-no-more-skiers, my winter mountaineering activities in recent years limited. A pity, so I'm looking forward to try it out snowshoeing. During the preliminary shows that we are a fairly large group, almost complete beginners.
planned an easy route is to Loskogel. Start in Graz at 09:00, departure at the car park at 10:00, and thus sufficient time for the tour enjoy and also sit comfortably in the hut to. Unfortunately, the plan should rise not.
The evening before the snowfall begins in the morning and lie in Graz, then a good 20 inches. So walk into a meeting place, not by bicycle. I hope I make it on time. Walking with snowshoes is also not difficult. At first I get me sometimes on my toes now greatly extended, but soon we all heraussen how it goes. A damaged snowshoe is refloated by Meli best MacGyver-style, with a bandage, again. Otherwise, keep our equipment through the tour without any problems.
Unfortunately, the sun also adopted soon after one of the mountains and we have to shorten the tour. Instead of the Loskogel it comes to the forest road back to Green Anger hut. At least this goal we wanted to do. All of us just is not done, the road is to cross out tree trunks cut off completely, but even this obstacle, we can deal with our snowshoes.
Then we come to the hut. Although our tour was rather short, we like the food there is prepared almost entirely of deer, very good and we can warm ourselves at the stove.

This snowshoe tour was again a very pleasant experience and I'm looking forward to a sequel, hopefully without snow chaos in the journey.
